HOW TO STOP THE MENACE OF IRRITATION ON OUR STREETS

It was a bright sunny afternoon. I paced down the road observing different gazes exchanged by people on the street. They were filled with built and pent-up annoyance and frustrations. Though one cannot help but show some degree of discomfort in the hotness of the scorching sun, the magnitude of expressions on people’s faces showed an intense display of bitterness. These unpleasant gestures emanate from domestic and social strains and constraints. One can however make some remarkable difference to stay unperturbed in these pinching circumstances. Here are some of the measures we can take to stay radiant.

1. ACKNOWLEDGE IRRITATION AS AN EMOTIONAL IMBALANCE

One of the attributes of humans is irritability. We’re made to react to people and things around us. Irritation, however, comes from unspent emotions driven by individual experiences. A child from an unprivileged home is bound to show reactions of unfairness of life to him. An affluent child has a tendency of displaying his parents’ wealth to spite others. The difficulties and ups and downs of life bring disenchantment and emotional excesses. One should try to maintain a right attitude towards addressing life situations.

2. DON’T SEE LIFE AS A BATTLE, THOUGH THINGS MAY BE DIFFICULT

All the best things of life come when we make right effort fed with hope. They come at their own time. Desperation and lack of self-esteem bring frustration which can cause us to relate with others in a battle-like nature. Anyone can live a life of ostentation or despair. Cutting our ego and believing in ourselves can bring a whole lot of difference in the way we react to people. A man who is unmarried may find unpleasantness in anger inducing attitudes he gets from his fellow married friends. Nevertheless, this should not generate frustration which can breed irritation.

3. MAINTAIN A FRIENDLY PERSONALITY

A lot of people are caught up in a web of personality conflict because they are greeted with mischief. Extending a hand of acceptance and noteworthiness can lubricate a mind for positive reactions. Everyone wants to feel important and accepted. Taking a discreet choice can help shape people’s level of frustration and irritation. We must keep a warm personality.

4. EMBRACE OTHER PEOPLE’S POSITIVE OPINION

Everyone has right to his or her own opinion as long as they don’t break the law. Being conscious of people’s views and embracing them can promote fruitful and pleasant rapport in the society. We should try and respect other people’s views and go about our choices in an appropriate manner. This will grow tranquillity and make our society better.

5. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD REDUCE THE LEVEL OF AGITATION IN THE SOCIETY

Most people in the society are faced with poor environmental conditions, economic hardship, unresolved differences, governmental mismanagement, lack and poor maintenance of basic amenities, unemployment and hunger, which are caused by negligence of those in the position of authority and divided commitment of the people. If the government can create a suitable and befitting environment, the rise of agitations in the society will hugely reduce. The government should promote people’s sense of patriotism and belief in their country. People will react better to government’s policies and effort towards salvaging the nation.
